The concept of responsibility forms an important bridge between practice, value and belief. Some Christian theologians and ethicists, for example, see it as core to religious identity (Niebuhr 1963, Schweiker 1995). For some philosophers and social scientists inclusive responsibility is the very base of ethics (Bauman 1989). In the world of business, corporate responsibility is fast becoming the core focus of business ethics. For business, it is tied to purpose, identity and practice (Brown 2005, Robinson 2008).
